The performance improvements of Client Drive Mapping in XenApp & XenDesktop 7.13

The following post shows test results between file transfers over Client Drive Mapping in XenDesktop 7.12 with Citrix Receiver for Windows 4.6 versus XenDesktop 7.13 with Citrix Receiver for Windows 4.7.

I done similar tests before with HDX over TCP versus HDX over UDP with Adaptive Transport. This new delivery protocol scales well over latent connections – https://jgspiers.com/hdx-enlightened-data-transport/

Back to the topic, the tests below compare Client Drive Mapping file copy performance between the latest Citrix XenDesktop and Receiver for Windows technologies. Citrix noted that the performance was improved in the latest versions, so it was time to test the theory.

Test #1 – Receiver 4.6, XenDesktop 7.12, VDA Server 7.12 vs. Receiver 4.7, XenDesktop 7.13, VDA Server 7.13 – 121MB file copy:

Test #2 – Receiver 4.6, XenDesktop 7.12, VDA Server 7.12 vs. Receiver 4.7, XenDesktop 7.13, VDA Server 7.13 – 609MB file copy:

7.12 copy:

7.13 copy:

Test #3 – Receiver 4.6, XenDesktop 7.12, VDA Server 7.12 vs. Receiver 4.7, XenDesktop 7.13, VDA Server 7.13 – 2.19GB file copy:

I did run the copies multiple times with similar results. CDM is faster in 7.13 versus the predecessors I can confirm, in larger copies mainly by more than 30+ seconds.
